Saval’s 1970 winning Junior Championship team gathered together on Saturday 22nd January 2011 to celebrate 40 years since they brought the first piece of silverware back to the club. That team was then the springboard for the great team in the 80s when they beat Ballymartin in the final. There was plenty of catch-up banter with the former team mates and team manager, Jimmy Graham recalled how Mick McCarthy had scored the goal to turn the game, that Ned Lennon had scored the winning point and that only for one of the many Paddy McEvoy’s shoulders over the sideline, Ballymartin could have won the game. A big thank you to organisers Seamus McManus and Edmond Lennon for a great night, to Ann Fallon for provided the food and to Tommy Sands who provided a wonderful impromptu performances through song and craic.
