Campa Chormaic runs this year from Monday 1st July – Friday 5th July, 10am – 3.45pm in St Colmam’s College, Newry. It will be open to all 11 to 16 year olds. Children are to bring their own drinks and packed lunch.
The camp encompasses Irish classes and cultural enrichment in the morning, followed by Gaelic Games in the afternoon. At the camp staged at Violet Hill, Football (for girls and boys), Hurling, Camogie, Rounders and Handball are offered.
Head of History and Government&Politics in St Colman's College Eamonn Mc Evoy is the afternoon Sport Coordinator and we are delighted to announce that Eamonn is preparing a fun historical element to the morning classes this year in further tribute to Cormac Mc Anallen who taught this subject at St Catherine's, Armagh.
The camp costs £45 per child which includes a unique Campa Chormaic jersey as well as classes in the morning (taught by qualified Irish teachers), coaching in the afternoon (by qualified coaches) and also treated to insights into Inter County football provided by the likes of Stephen Kernan, Paul Mc Grane, Daniel Mc Cartan, Kevin Mc Kernan to mention only a few. These men are all giving of their time voluntarily.
