Saval footballer Ciara Coffey (nee Sands) who carried the Olympic Torch towards Stormont recently, Ciara was nominated from her work, GE Energy.

The following paragraph is from GE Energy on why Ciara was nominated to carry the torch.

"Ciara works as a senior software engineer in GE Lisburn, here she champions the

HealthAhead Physical Activity initiative. Her personal interest and enthusiasm

for this Initiative has meant that she has actively introduced, embraced, lead

and encouraged a broad range of activities such as Walk to Run Plans for

Beginners, 80km Cycling Challenges, participation of relay teams in a local

Marathon, lunchtime Pilates onsite, employee training for Triathlon Qualifiers

leading to a Team participating in the London Hyde Park Event etc. The difference

with Ciara is that she personally has promoted and achieved employee engagement

to the point where employees have tried a physical activity that they had not

done before, for example Ciara not only ran her part of the Belfast Marathon in

the GE Lisburn Relay Team, but also ran beside a workmate to support her in her

first ever running event. For her dedication to HealthAhead Ciara is worthy of

Carrying The Flame."
