Saval v Ballyholland

On Monday 10th September at Pairc Elser the seniors met Ballyholland in the Championship Qualifier. Saval made a good start but by half time were down 2 points, the greens fought back later in the second half to win 1-10 to 1-08 .

Saval made an encouraging start and by the 15th minute were leading 0:04 to 0:02, with points coming from Niall Madine, Keelan Rice and Peter Murphy. However 2 minutes later Ballyholland scored the game’s first goal and by half time were leading 1-04 to 0-05.  In the second half Ballyholland got off to a good start scoring a further two points and leading 1-06 to 0-05. Despite being 4 points down Saval fought back with Niall Madine scoring a penalty in the 11th minute of the second period.  Three minutes later Ballyholland were reduced to 14 men following a sending off.  With 15 minutes to go Ruari Digney coverted a free leaving the score all square (1-06 each). The greens got into their stride with points coming from Keelan Rice, Stephen Kearney, Ruari Digney and Ferghal McConville. Ballyholland replied with a couple of points but Saval held on to win the game with a 2 point lead.
