U-10’s Blitz Report

posted Sep 18, 2012, 6:30 AM by Saval Gac

On Saturday morning our U-10s were on the road to Tullylish in seek of more success. We had a slow start in the group and after a poor performance we got beat by a very strong Burren side.

Next we faced Shamrocks were we began to get into our stride with a solid performance and our first win of the day. Our next game was against a big strong St Michaels team and in this game we started to move the ball faster. We took some excellent scores through Brendan Tumilty, Michael Colhoun and Daniel Fearon and with Conor Heatley, Liam Tumilty and Danny McAvoy standing strong in defence we notched up our second victory.

A few positional changes were made in the next game and these seemed to improve the performance, resulting in a great win against the hosts - Tullylish. Next was the Shield final against Annaclone.

John McCarthy started in goals where he kept the ‘Clone’ forwards at bay with some great goalkeeping and brilliant use of possession from his kick outs. Ryan O’Hare and Fiachra McEvoy moved up to the full forward line and with their speed they began to trouble the Tullylish defence and it wasn’t long until they knocked in a couple of excellent goals each. Big Adam Hegarty moved to the half back line where he held the line brilliantly along with Aidan Quinn and Callum Byrne. Our midfield duo of Peter Haughey and Joe McAloon worked hard for the full game and led us to  a great win.

Brendan Tumilty raised the shield high to complete an excellent 3 weeks for this great team. It’s a pleasure to watch these Saval youngsters playing some brilliant football and getting the success they deserve after a lot of hard work and commitment – brilliant stuff lads – be very proud of yourselves!!!
